Flesh in the pen

momentary brilliance: 'Ar, stoo gooder last, it's jessa flesh in the pen.' (General etymological opinion is that this phrase has come down from the time when the early Strine settlers fashioned pens from goose quills - often without first removing the goose. The phrase is believed originally to have been, 'gooseflesh in the pen', meaning shaky or illegible writing (caused by the struggles of the goose))
